Getting Linux booting on the Zoom-II boards
To get the Zoom2 baord schematics, register your board on the logicpd site here
This is the Zoom-II with the Debug board typical connections
* Keep all switches on Debug board in OFF position.
Step1: Getting the X-loader
Get Zoom-II x-loader binary from here.
For Source code: Clone from xloader git tree hosted here
Refer here for building instructions for x-loader for Zoom-II for NAND/SD card. Use omap3430zoom2_config as config.
The MLO file can be generated with make ift option. So this eliminates omap3430gp-signer.pl script all together.
Serial xloader method needs different hardware setup. todo
Step2: Getting U-boot
Get Zoom-II u-boot binary and environment file from here.
For source code and building: Clone from git tree hosted here.
Building U-boot: Refer here for building instruction for Zoom-II. Use omap3430zoom2_config as config.
For debug console provide the parameter: console=ttyS3 (as the debug console is on the external debug board )
Step3: Getting Linux Kernel
Clone the git tree for linux kernel from here.
By default the master branch has support for Zoom-II platform. Also android-2.6.27 head has the Zoom-II Android support.
make CROSS_COMPILE=arm-none-linux-gnueabi- omap_zoom2_defconfig
To combine the Android ramdisk with the kernel, use the u-boot utility mkimage
mkimage -A arm -O linux -T multi -C none \ -a 0x80008000 -e 0x80008000 -n 'Name_Of_Your_Release'' \ -d <path-to-kernel>/arch/arm/boot/zImage:<path-to-android-out-dir>/ramdisk.img \ uMulti-Zoom2
Step4: Booting Flashing
By this time you should have an x-loader(MLO), u-boot and kernel uImage ready.
Start with SD card/NAND boot procedure to get the u-boot prompt.
Next follow the either the Fastboot flashing procedure here
of follow the manual steps for Nand Boot/Flashing Procedure to burn the MLO and uboot files in NAND. (ref: guide here)
Now on a reboot of the board, NAND u-boot should come up.
Note: Serial boot procedure will not work with Zoom-II
